I( like the Megallan Portable GPS for my vehicle. I just back from a trip and kept me posted where I was.

I bought this for a Christmas gift, havn’t opened it yet. But from past expierence, because I own one, it is a great GPS. Very easy to use.

This is the fifth Magellan Gps that I have owned. The first one was a MAP 7000 used in aerial navigation. It weighewd a ton and used 6 double A bateries that had a lifetime of about ten hours. All of the products have been very dependable. In the use of any GPS it is important to fly the plane or drive the car first. Program the GPS using Guggle Earth for land navigation and then listen to the commands, don’t bother looking at it. It is very helpful if utiliZed correctly.

If you’re like me and aren’t into a lot of bells and whistles, this is a great little GPS unit. I was a little skeptical because of the price, but a friend of mine has a Magellan (a higher unit) and loves it. Right out of the box, it was easy to set up and get going. It’s very intuitive to use. So far, I haven’t been directed to drive into the middle of a lake like one of our units from another GPS company did. The only negative thing I have found is that once in a while the unit “freezes” when you power up if you haven’t used it for a few days and you have to run a test on the screen to get it unstuck. It’s probably something boneheaded I’m doing when I turn it off and not the unit’s fault. I’ve had this unit for a year now and it’s still going strong and i don’t have any worries with it at all. Was well worth the money I paid for it.

I chose this GPS because it’s close to what my boyfriend owns. I only use it when I travel, not on a daily basis. It gets you where you need to go. Good for first time buyers/users. Direct and accurate.
The only downfall to this product. When you turn it on…it takes about 5 minutes to update the current location. So if you drive around the block once…you should be set!
